My Lone Wolf!

Pack Meeting was last week. Max was so very excited-he was getting his wolf. As you may know, we stay pretty busy here with sports and Pack Meeting fell on the same night, at almost precisely the same time as his baseball game. We asked him to think about what he wanted to do-should he could to pack meeting or baseball. His response was, "You only get your Wolf once in your life! I can go to the next baseball game." Well, enough said! We decided that maybe we could make them both work. We dressed him in his baseball uniform and and put the scout shirt on top with the plan that as soon as he got his award we'd take off for baseball. It's a good thing we went, because the Wolf Den was in charge of the flag ceremony and he was the only Wolf who came. A couple other scouts helped, and they did a fantastic job! Special thanks to our scout leaders, Brianne, Lisa, the Grants, and Marci. I know Cub Scouts can be a huge headache! I was secretly very happy when Alex decided he wasn't interested in it! But thank you ladies-and Sean! We really appreciate all you do! Oh, I forgot to mention....if you're not not familiar with scouts, when a cub earns a new badge, their parents are recognized for their achievement, mom's get a special pin that the scouts pin on there mothers. Take note of the placement of my pin!

My Mother's Day Miracle!

I hate Mother's Day! I hate the guilt I feel, the inadequacy I feel, I hate trying to be imaginative in the gift giving-mostly because there really shouldn't be a gift, it should be a day of admiration, no gifts necessary. It all started for me when I was in the 2nd grade. We were given tiny little pine trees to care for and give to our mothers. Mine was an awful twig that despite my caring, did absolutely nothing. When Mother's Day came, I was too ashamed of my twig to take home to my mom so I dumped it by the stairs of the second grade doors.

When I got home, all my siblings were pridefully giving their gifts and crafts they made at school to mom. I said nothing. Finally, my mom asked, "Julie, did you do a craft?" I broke down and cried. I explained my gift wasn't good enough and that I left it at the school. My mom strapped me in the car and in the pouring rain we went to the school to find my twig. I thought certainly someone would have found it and thrown it away, then I wouldn't have to be embarrassed by the terrible looking thing. We found it though, and my mom was grateful and appreciative of the thought. It has scarred me forever!!!!!

At any rate, I decided this year I was boycotting Mother's day. At Christmas time, I was looking for stocking stuffers and found tickets to our favorite comedian, Brian Regan coming to the Tuacahn-Mother's Day weekend!!!!! Hooray for me! What luck! The kids had no idea what my real motive was, they just liked the idea of St. George in the Spring and Brian Regan! We had a fabulous time. We stayed at our friend's house-thanks Mark! We sunbathed, swam and shopped-it was a Mother's Day Miracle!!!!

I should also take a moment to thank the Mother's in my life. Thank you mom for teaching me right from wrong. Thanks for giving me the invaluable gift of story telling. Thank you for instilling in me the confidence I need to be a leader and a teacher and a Mother. I love you with all my heart.

Thank you Minette for raising a righteous, hard working man. He knows the value of hard work and never quits until the work is done. Thank you for teaching him to honor his priesthood and teaching him how important a dad is to his children.

Here's my cute kids! The pictures are blurry, I know! I've no excuse for that!
